Sig Liman

Sığ Liman, whose Turkish name translates as "Shallow Port," is a bay roughly two kilometres from the village of Selimiye on the Bozburun Peninsula. True to its name, the water stays shallow for the first hundred metres or so from shore before deepening further out, making it a popular swimming spot, while pine forest covers the slopes rising behind the beach. The bay is squeezed between two headlands, Küçüve and Sığ Burun, which help block the swell coming in from open water.

For boats, the bay offers anchorage in depths of around 4 to 12 metres on a sand-and-shell seabed, and is sheltered from most wind directions except from the north. A small beach operation with basic food and drink, and more recently a glamping site, has grown up along the shore, while the shallow shelf and clear water make it a favourite spot for a swim before or after visiting Selimiye itself.

Sığ Liman is easily reached by tender from an anchored yacht, which is why many gulet cruises from Marmaris call in here as part of a longer route around the Bozburun Peninsula.
