Longoz Bay

Longoz Bay, also known locally as Kargili Koyu, sits just west of Cape Kargılı on the Gulf of Gökova side of the Hisarönü peninsula, reached from Marmaris on itineraries that extend into the gulf. Steep, pine-covered hills run down almost to the waterline, giving the narrow inlet a closed-in, sheltered feel that keeps it calm in most wind directions.

The shoreline mixes sand and pebble, and the water near the shore is shallow enough — some spots barely 2 metres deep — to suit young or inexperienced swimmers, while the bay narrows and becomes trickier to navigate further west. Larger boats generally anchor toward the eastern side of the cove, where there is more room to swing. A couple of small restaurants operate on shore, though one keeps irregular hours, and walking trails connect the bay to neighbouring coves for those who want to explore beyond the water.

Longoz Bay is best reached during a Marmaris gulet cruise that extends into the Gulf of Gökova, an area also known for the steady winds that make nearby Akyaka a well-regarded kitesurfing spot.
