Kufre Bay

Kufre Bay lies among the Yedi Adalar (Seven Islands) group on the eastern side of the Gulf of Gökova, within reach of Marmaris on longer gulet itineraries that extend beyond the Hisarönü peninsula. The bay forms a natural harbour, backed by pine-forested hills that run for miles along this stretch of the Aegean coast, and it has served as a sheltered anchorage for boats working this part of the gulf for generations.

The water stays deep through most of the bay but turns shallow near the mouth of the Azmak River, so swimmers — children especially — should take some care in that corner. Typical anchoring depths run between 14 and 17 metres, and many boats take a line ashore given the rocky terrain. Tour boats tend to pass through around midday, while evenings bring quieter water and some notably vivid sunsets as the sun appears to sink directly into the gulf.
