Gebekse Bay

Gebekse Bay lies on the İnceburun Peninsula in the Marmaris district, sheltered by a narrow strip of land that curls east for about half a nautical mile and blocks the prevailing wind. There is no road connecting it to the rest of the peninsula, so it is reached only by boat, which has helped keep it one of the quieter anchorages close to Marmaris even during the peak summer season.

The bay is also known locally as Gebe Kilise, or Pregnant Church Bay, after the ruins of a small Byzantine-era church still visible on the shore. Olive trees cover the slopes around the water, and the seabed shifts from weed near the entrance to clean sand further in, giving boats a secure spot to anchor or run a line ashore for the night, with no facilities on shore to break the quiet.

Day-trip boats from Marmaris often stop here in the late morning, but the bay empties out by mid-afternoon; it is one of the anchorages you'll visit on a private gulet charter from Marmaris, usually timed for a quieter, later visit.
