Aga Limani Bay

Ağa Limanı lies in the Gulf of Göcek, about a mile north of the headland of Kurtoğlu Burnu, on the stretch of Turkey's Lycian coast between Fethiye and Dalaman. Facing east, the bay catches the sunrise directly and looks out toward Mount Baba Dağ, the mountain that dominates the skyline above nearby Ölüdeniz.

The anchorage is really two adjoining bays, a larger and a smaller one, both fed by a freshwater spring that keeps the water unusually clear even by the standards of this coastline; many charter guests anchor here for the afternoon to swim before tackling the short, steep trail that climbs roughly 100 meters above the shore to the scattered ruins of Lydai, an ancient border town between the historic regions of Caria and Lycia.

Sheltered and quieter than the anchorages closer to Göcek's marinas, Ağa Limanı is often used as a stop on longer routes toward Rhodes or further along the Carian coast, pairing a swim with a short piece of ancient history within a few minutes' walk of the water. Boats bound for Fethiye rarely skip it, since the combination of a clean spring-fed bay and a quiet hilltop ruin is unusual for such a small, easily reached anchorage.
