Soguk Su Bay

Soguk Su Bay — its name meaning "Cold Water" in Turkish — is a boat-access-only cove on the Fethiye coast of Mugla province, reachable only by sea and largely undeveloped as a result. Inside a cave at the back of the bay, fresh groundwater seeping down from the hills near Kayaköy mixes with the seawater, cooling parts of the bay by around 10°C compared with the surrounding sea — swimmers often feel sudden cold patches even while the water around them stays warm. The bay's setting, framed by steep cliffs and pine-covered slopes, has made it a favoured anchorage on multi-day cruises along this part of the coast.

The seabed here shifts quickly from pebble to deeper water close to shore, and the marine life is rich enough that Caretta caretta loggerhead turtles are occasionally spotted nearby. There are no sun loungers or facilities on the beach, so visitors typically rely on their boat for shade and comfort, though the cliffs themselves offer some natural cover from the midday sun. Given its position along the sailing routes out of Fethiye, Soguk Su Bay is a classic stop on a Fethiye blue cruise itinerary, usually visited for a swim before the boat moves on to its next anchorage.
