Camalti Bay

Camalti Bay lies in the Gulf of Gökova, on Turkey's Aegean coast in Milas district of Muğla province, where the modern jetty marks the site of the ancient harbour of Keramos — its ruins lying about a mile inland, near the village of Ören. The wider Gökova gulf, tucked between the Bodrum and Datça peninsulas, is one of the most sheltered cruising grounds on the Turkish coast, though Camalti Bay itself is more exposed than the coves further inside the gulf.

Unlike many of the pine-lined anchorages nearby, the water off Camalti stays relatively deep close to shore, and the bay is open to westerly and southwesterly winds, so it functions better as a stop for visiting the Keramos ruins than as an overnight anchorage. Boats cruising this stretch of the gulf typically continue on toward Gökova's inner bays or toward Çökertme, taking in a mix of ancient sites and quiet coves along the way.

Camalti Bay sits well outside Fethiye's own cruising grounds, in the Gökova stretch more commonly covered by Bodrum- and Marmaris-based charters, though on longer, multi-region itineraries it is sometimes grouped in as a classic stop on a Fethiye blue cruise itinerary that continues further along the coast.
