Yaglica Bay

Yağlıca Bay sits on the mainland coast between Demre and Kaş, hemmed in by rocky cliffs that give it the narrow, fjord-like profile locals compare to a small canal. The entrance is tight enough that only a handful of boats can anchor at once, which keeps the bay quiet even during the busiest summer weeks.

Because the shoreline is steep rock rather than beach, Yağlıca is reachable only by water. There is no path down from the coastal road, and the same cliffs that block foot access also cut the wind, making it one of the more sheltered anchorages on this part of the coast, calm even when a stiffer breeze is blowing further offshore. The clear water and rocky seabed attract snorkellers hoping for a glimpse of the small fish and sponges that shelter along the rock walls, and the bay's depth and shelter make it a straightforward, low-risk stop for boats of most sizes.

Sitting roughly midway between the harbour towns of Demre and Kaş, Yağlıca works well as a lunch or afternoon anchorage on a longer sailing itinerary; many charter guests exploring Turkey anchor here for the afternoon before continuing on toward Kekova or back to port.
