Kargi Bay

Kargı Bay lies about 3 kilometres south of Datça town, on the southern, Hisarönü-facing coast of the Datça Peninsula in Muğla Province. Surrounding hills shield the bay from the north winds that often sweep across the peninsula, so the water here tends to stay calm even when conditions in Datça itself turn blustery, and its size makes it one of the larger, more sheltered coves along this part of the coast.

The shoreline is fringed with eucalyptus, pine and olive trees, and the seabed shelves gently from a pebbly entry near the shore before running out to deeper water. The bay has long attracted divers and snorkellers drawn to its clear water and rocky seabed, while a handful of small restaurants and guesthouses sit just above the beach for those who want to linger after a swim rather than push straight on to the next anchorage.

Being only a short hop from the town centre, many charter guests exploring Turkey anchor here for the afternoon before returning to Datça harbour for the evening, making it one of the more convenient stops for a half-day break from sailing.
