Mirties Beach

Myrties (also written Mirties) is a small fishing village and beach on the west coast of Kalymnos, a short distance from Massouri and roughly 8 kilometres northwest of Pothia. Unlike its busier neighbour, Myrties is quieter and more low-key, with a roughly 700-metre pebble beach and shallow, clear water that makes it popular with families.

Tamarisk trees along the back of the beach provide shade, and a small row of tavernas, cafés and rooms-to-rent sits just above the shore. The beach looks directly across to the islet of Telendos, and through the summer small taxi boats leave roughly every half hour from the Myrties harbour to make the short crossing.

Because the anchorage is calm and the crossing to Telendos is so easy, many charter guests exploring Greece anchor here for the afternoon, using Myrties as a base to swim, have lunch ashore, and visit the islet before moving on.
