Love Bay

Love Bay is a small cove on the west coast of Poros, about 4 km northwest of Poros town and a couple of hundred metres beyond Megalo Neorio. Pines grow right down to the waterline and lean out over the sea, which is where the bay gets both its colour and most of its shade. It was a quiet hideout for couples before the yachts found it, and it is now one of the busiest anchorages on this side of the island, though it has stayed small: a few sun loungers, a handful of huts, and nothing built behind the sand.

Visiting the Bay

The beach is golden sand, shallow at the edge and deepening gradually, with the pine slope rising straight off the back of it. There is a beach bar and not much else, which is the point. Late afternoon is the best of it, when the sun drops behind the western headland and the light comes through the trees onto the water.

The anchorage is sheltered from everything except the south and the west, so it stays calm through most of the summer. Boats lie off the pines rather than tie up anywhere, and that is what makes it a classic stop on a Greece blue cruise itinerary - a lunch and swim stop on the run between Poros town and Hydra or Methana. The hot, dry season runs from June to September, with daytime highs around 31°C and a sea temperature of roughly 26°C. Canoes and paddleboards are hired out on the beach for working along the shoreline either side of the cove.
