Kamari Beach

Kamari Beach lies in the Kefalos area on the southwestern tip of Kos, about 40 kilometres from Kos Town and roughly 2 kilometres from Kefalos village itself, at the far end of the island from the capital. The beach curves for close to 5 kilometres around the bay, forming a wide crescent of sand and fine pebbles that looks out over calm, clear water, with the low hills of the Kefalos peninsula rising behind it and sheltering the bay from the stronger summer winds that affect other parts of the coast.

The relaxed pace here suits families and travellers looking to unwind rather than party; sunbeds, umbrellas, and a handful of seaview tavernas line the shore, and the sheltered bay is well suited to swimming and windsurfing alike. From Kamari, small boats also run across to the uninhabited islet of Kastri, just offshore, for those who want a quieter stretch of coastline to themselves, away from the busier central section of the bay.

Given its position on Kos's southwestern coast, Kamari is best reached during a Kos gulet cruise, which lets guests combine the beach with other bays along the same stretch of coast in a single day out on the water.
