Kalymnos Emporio Beach

Emporios (also spelled Emborios) is a small village and beach on the northwestern coast of Kalymnos, one of the Dodecanese islands, roughly 20 kilometres northwest of Pothia, the island's capital and main port. The beach sits inside a sheltered bay facing the islet of Kalavros and is best reached during a gulet cruise along the Greece coast or by the local bus and boat services that connect it to the rest of Kalymnos.

The shore is covered in smooth pebbles rather than sand, and the water is clear but often exposed to the wind, which makes Emporios a favourite spot for windsurfing, kayaking and water-skiing as well as snorkelling. A few umbrellas and sunbeds are set up near the centre of the beach, and trees offer shade along the edges. A handful of tavernas and cafés line the seafront, serving simple Greek food to the villagers and the small number of visitors who make it this far up the island.

Emporios can be reached overland by the regular bus route from Pothia, but many visitors arrive by boat from Myrties, a shorter and more scenic route along Kalymnos's rugged west coast.
