Pali

Pali (also written Paloi) is a small fishing village on the northeastern coast of Nisyros, roughly 4 km east of the island's main port, Mandraki. Home to just over 200 residents according to the 2021 census, the village has kept a slow, unhurried character, with whitewashed houses gathered close to a modest harbor that shelters day boats and local fishing craft.

Pali's own beach is a long stretch of dark volcanic sand shaded by tamarisk trees, sitting within an area long known for its geothermal activity. Just outside the village, the Pantelidis thermal baths draw on natural hot springs once celebrated across the region, and nearby the small chapel of Panagia Thermiani stands beside a cave where warm mineral water still rises to the surface — a legacy of the volcanic forces that shaped Nisyros itself.

The village harbor offers a convenient stop for visiting yachts, with fuel and fresh water available and Mandraki's fuller range of services only a short hop away. Along with many of the Dodecanese's quieter harbors, many gulet cruises in Greece call in here, giving guests an easy way to combine a therapeutic soak with a taste of authentic island life.
