Grabula Bay

Grabula Bay (Uvala Grabule) lies on the western side of Drvenik Veli, the outer island of the Trogir archipelago, a short stretch of open water from the island's only settlement, Drvenik Veliki.

What sets Grabula apart from the other coves on Drvenik Veli is its shelter: according to local sources it is the only bay on the island protected from every wind direction, which makes it one of the more dependable places to anchor when the bora or jugo is blowing elsewhere in the channel. The island itself has no bridge or car connection to the mainland, and is reached by ferry only, so a night in Grabula still feels genuinely removed from the coast, even though Drvenik Veli itself is a classic stop on a Trogir blue cruise itinerary.

The bay also holds a cultural landmark: a cast of the sculpture "Majka Dalmacija" ("Mother Dalmatia"), the work of sculptor Ante Kostović, who was born on Drvenik. Kostović originally made the piece while in wartime exile at El Shatt, in Egypt; the original stayed there, and a version was later placed in Grabula's waters.

Beyond its shelter and the statue, little is independently documented about Grabula Bay itself. No verified data on mooring facilities, holding ground, or seasonal traffic was found, so sailors planning to anchor here should treat it as a quiet, undeveloped stop rather than a marina call.
