Smokvica Island

Smokvica is a small, uninhabited island in the Kornati archipelago, in Šibenik-Knin County, lying southeast of the larger island of Kornat. It covers about 1.05 square kilometres and rises to 95 metres at its highest point, Veli vrh, with a lighthouse marking its northern tip.

On the island's south-eastern side lies Lojena Bay, an anchorage sheltered from every wind except the jugo (south wind). A couple of small shoreside restaurants, including Konoba Smokvica, moor buoys for boats that stop to eat, making the bay a popular lunch or overnight call for yachts and gulets cruising the Kornati islands. It is best reached during a Split gulet cruise that pushes north into the Kornati National Park, though it lies considerably further out than the archipelago's closer anchorages.
