Opat Bay

Opat Bay sits on the island of Kornat — the largest island in the Kornati archipelago and the namesake of Kornati National Park. Reachable only by boat, roughly 45 minutes by speedboat from Murter, the bay is built around a single well-known address: Konoba Opat.

Run by the Božikov family since the late 1980s and today led by chef Ante "Dupin" Božikov, the konoba serves whatever the local fishermen bring in that day — fresh fish, scampi, and shellfish prepared in a straightforward Dalmatian style. It is open seasonally, from May to October.

The bay's jetty has grown over the years to take yachts of up to 25 meters, though mooring there is generally reserved for guests with a table booked; other boats anchor further out or pick up one of the mooring buoys. For gulets cruising the park, Opat is a classic stop on a Sibenik blue cruise itinerary, timed around lunch or dinner at the konoba.
