Losinj Aromatic Garden

The Lošinj Aromatic Garden — officially the Garden of Fine Scents (Miomirisni otočki vrt) — is located in Bukovica, on the edge of Mali Lošinj town, on Lošinj island in the Kvarner Gulf, not near Pula. It began in 2003 as the childhood dream of a local woman, who started clearing abandoned land near her birthplace; the garden opened to the public in July 2005. Today it covers about 3,551 square metres.

The garden showcases roughly 250 species of wild aromatic herbs native to the Lošinj-Cres archipelago, alongside more than 100 non-native plants historically brought back by Lošinj's seafarers from their voyages — bringing the total to some 430 plant species. Paths are lined with dry-stone walls built in the traditional island style, and open onto views toward the Velebit mountain range on the mainland. The garden is open from March to December, sells herb-based products such as jams, oils and soaps, and receives around 4,000 visitors a year — making it worth a visit if you're chartering a gulet in Croatia that stops in Mali Lošinj.
