Jezera

Jezera is a village on the southeastern side of Murter Island, part of Tisno municipality in Šibenik-Knin County — near Šibenik, not Pula. It is the second-largest settlement in the municipality, with 798 residents recorded in the 2021 census across an area of 8.9 square kilometres. The village is first mentioned in written records from 1298, and its parish has existed since 1602.

The name Jezera — "lakes" in Croatian — refers to seasonal pools that once formed on impermeable ground nearby after heavy rain; one such marshy area was drained in the early 20th century to control malaria. The village's main landmark is the Church of Our Lady of Health, built in 1722 from locally quarried stone, next to a 32-metre bell tower — the oldest on Murter. Today Jezera is best known among sailors for its ACI Marina, a Blue Flag-awarded facility with 233 wet berths across five piers plus 60 dry berths, sheltered by a breakwater on its eastern side — a marina that's genuinely worth a visit if you're chartering a gulet in Croatia around the Kornati and Šibenik area.
